Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is a progressive tax paid to HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs) when purchasing a residential property over £125,000 in England and Northern Ireland (separate taxes apply in Wales and Scotland). As the taper period for the stamp duty holiday is over, starting from October 1, 2021, the SDLT on residential properties will be restored to the original rate. For properties starting at £120,000, a 3% tax rate applies to the buyers, while first-time buyers will be exempted from SDLT. To work out the latest SDLT for you, Raeon International provides an updated calculator below for easy calculation.
